EVOLVING WOMANHOOD

A Prayer for the Week Ahead When You Don’t Know What to Do

This week feels heavy, and it hasn’t even fully started yet.

That may be one of the hardest parts.

Monday hasn’t had the chance to do anything to me, but my mind has already walked through the entire week.

It has opened the bills, checked the bank account, looked for job emails that still haven’t arrived, and imagined every possible thing that could go wrong.

My mind is apparently working overtime, which would be helpful if somebody were paying it.

But no.

It’s just creating problems for free.

I’m going into this week carrying more than I know what to do with.

I still haven’t found a job.

Bills are coming due, whether I feel ready for them or not.

I’m trying to remain hopeful, but I’d be lying if I said the worry hasn’t been wearing on me.

It has.

I keep wondering what I’m supposed to do next.

I keep thinking there must be something I haven’t tried, somewhere I haven’t looked, or some answer I should already have by now.

The truth is, I don’t know what to do.

That’s a hard thing for me to admit because I’m used to trying to figure things out.

I’m used to carrying what needs to be carried, looking at the problem, and finding some kind of way forward.

But there are moments when I can’t make a plan because I don’t have enough information to make one.

I can’t force an employer to call.

I can’t stretch money past its breaking point.

I can’t look far enough ahead to see how all of this is going to work out.

And right now, I don’t have family or friends I can call and tell the whole truth to.

I don’t have someone sitting across from me saying, “Tell me what’s really going on.”

That loneliness adds another kind of weight.

It’s one thing to go through a hard time.

It’s another thing to go through it while feeling like there’s nowhere safe to set it down.

So, I’ve been talking to God.

Not with perfect words.

Not with the kind of confidence that makes everything sound settled.

Some days, I talk to Him with tears in my eyes.

Some days, my prayer is just me saying that I’m scared and I need help.

I’m learning that I don’t have to clean up my fear before I bring it to God.

I don’t have to sound strong.

I don’t have to pretend I’m at peace when my mind is racing.

I can come to Him exactly as I am, which lately has been worried, tired, uncertain, and trying very hard not to fall apart over things I can’t control.

Speaking to God helps me stay hopeful, even though I have no idea what tomorrow is going to hold.

It doesn’t make the bills disappear.

It doesn’t place a job offer in my inbox while I’m praying.

It doesn’t give me every answer I’m asking for.

But it reminds me that fear isn’t the only voice I have to listen to.

That matters.

Because when a week already feels overwhelming, my mind wants to live all seven days at once.

It wants to worry about Monday’s phone calls, Tuesday’s decisions, Wednesday’s bills, Thursday’s unknowns, and Friday’s disappointment before Sunday evening is even over.

By the time the week begins, I’m already tired from living through a version of it that hasn’t happened.

I had to stop and admit something to myself.

I was carrying days I hadn’t lived yet.

I was trying to solve problems that hadn’t arrived, prepare for conversations that might never happen, and protect myself from every possible outcome.

But I can’t live this week that way.

I can’t keep making today pay for everything I’m afraid might happen tomorrow.

Faith, for me, isn’t pretending the situation looks good.

It’s admitting that it looks uncertain and still believing I’m not facing it by myself.

I can trust God and still be worried about money.

I can pray and still feel afraid when I look at the calendar.

I can believe God is with me and still wish He would show me exactly what He’s doing.

Those feelings don’t make my faith fake.

They make me human.

Maybe that’s what some of us need to hear before this week begins.

We don’t have to enter it full of confidence.

We don’t have to walk into Monday with a color-coded plan, a cheerful attitude, and a mug that says something inspiring.

Sometimes we enter the week with a tired heart and a prayer.

Sometimes faith looks less like standing tall and more like whispering, “God, I need You to help me through today.”

And today is enough.

I’m trying to stop asking myself how I’m going to carry the whole week when God is only asking me to meet Him here.

In this day.

In this moment.

In this breath.

I still want answers.

I still need a job.

I still need the bills to be paid.

I’m not going to act like those things no longer matter because I prayed about them.

They matter a lot.

Giving this week to God isn’t the same as no longer caring what happens.

It means I’m admitting that worry can’t be my only plan.

I’ve carried this as far as I know how to carry it.

Now I need somewhere to put it.

So before the week begins, before the phone starts ringing, before I check my email one more time hoping something has changed, I want to pray.

Not only for myself.

I want to pray for the woman who is reading this with her own heavy week waiting for her.

Maybe she’s worried about money too.

Maybe she’s waiting for test results, trying to hold her family together, facing a conversation she’s been avoiding, caring for everyone while nobody asks how she’s doing, or lying awake wondering how much longer she can keep living this way.

I may not know exactly what she’s carrying.

But I know what it feels like to need somewhere to lay it down.

So let’s pray together.

Heavenly Father, as we begin this new week, we place it completely in Your hands.

Before the calls come in, before the plans unfold, before the responsibilities, hard conversations, and unexpected moments find their way to us, help us begin from a place of trust.

More than anything this week, Lord, we need Your peace.

Not peace that depends on everything going right.

Not peace that disappears the moment something changes.

The kind of peace that settles our hearts when our minds are racing.

The kind that keeps us grounded when we don’t know what comes next.

The kind that reminds us You’re still in control, even when we don’t have all the answers.

Please walk ahead of us this week.

Guide every decision.

Protect our families.

Watch over our children.

Give us wisdom when we don’t know what to do, courage when we feel afraid, and strength when we’re tired.

Help us stay in today instead of carrying the weight of every possible tomorrow.

Teach us to trust You one step, one moment, and one day at a time.

When fear tries to speak louder than our faith, remind us of Your promises.

Remind us that before this week even begins, You’re already there.

Remind us that You’re already present in every place this week will take us.

There’s nothing waiting for us that You haven’t already seen.

There’s no problem too great for You.

So today, we bring You everything we’re carrying.

The fear.

The racing thoughts.

The questions.

The pressure.

The things we’ve been trying to hold together on our own.

We place this entire week in Your care.

We love You, Lord.

In Jesus’ precious name, I pray.

Amen.

I don’t know what will happen this week.

I wish I could say I finished this prayer and suddenly had all the answers.

I didn’t.

The job search is still real.

The bills are still waiting.

Tomorrow is still unknown.

But for this moment, I can breathe.

I can remind myself that I don’t have to carry Monday through Friday tonight.

I only have to take the next step I can see, pray when I can’t see one, and trust that God will meet me in both places.

That’s where I am right now.

Not starting this week strong.

Just starting it with God.

Evolving Womanhood

Evolving Womanhood is for the woman who is still becoming while life keeps unfolding around her. The one who has carried a lot, grown through what she did not choose, and is learning to come back to herself again.

This space is about healing, self-respect, and trusting yourself more with each season. Not having it all figured out but staying present as you grow.

Womanhood shifts and evolves, and so do you.

Evolving Womanhood is for the woman who is still becoming while life keeps unfolding around her.

We spend so much of our lives taking care of everyone else that it can be easy to lose touch with what we need, what we feel, and who we are becoming.

Our journals give you a private place to slow down, sort through what's on your mind, and reconnect with yourself through every season of womanhood.

Because sometimes you need a place that's just for you.
